How do I order patent copies?

Patents can be ordered in three ways:

From the Rapidpat express full-text view for a patent—simply click on the Order Patent button from the upper right-hand corner of the document.

Type up to 200 patent numbers that you want to order directly into the Rapidpat Images Order Form and click the Submit button. You will be directed to a "hit list" of your patent documents, complete with a FREE front-page preview for each document. To complete your order, simply click the Submit button from the Hit List page, and use our Secure Online Ordering system to pay by credit card.

From Rapidpat Custom, upload a file (i.e., .xls, .doc, etc.) of the patents that you need, or simply use the provided Custom Form to indicate the types of patents that you would like included in a custom collection.

What is included in my Rapidpat patent copy order?
When you order a Rapidpat patent, you will receive the image file of every page of the patent as a single, compressed file that is in PDF format, 300 dpi.

How can I receive the patents that I order?
There are three ways to receive the patents you order: Via download, CD ROM, or DVD. When you submit your order, you will be asked the media on which you'd like to receive your patents. Simply follow the system prompts.

Do I need an account to use Rapidpat's services?
You do not need an account to use Rapidpat's services; pay services are clearly marked, and your account set-up is completed at the time that you place an order for any Rapidpat service or product.

How do I set up a Rapidpat account?
You set-up your Rapidpat account when you place an order for any Rapidpat Service.

What software will I need to access, view, print or transfer patents from Rapidpat?
Because we've already converted each patent image to PDF format, Adobe® Acrobat reader is all that you need to access, view, and print Rapidpat patents. Don't have Adobe? Download it (free) at Adobe's site.

How often is the Rapidpat US collection updated?
We update our US collections every Wednesday evening, the day patents are delivered to us from the US Patent and Trademark Office. Exceptions may occur for Federal holidays and when problems arise with data availability. Look at the Collections page for our current database status.

Does Rapidpat offer US patent applications?
Yes, US patent applications are available from Rapidpat. You can choose to search US patent applications from Rapidpat express using the database selector button underneath the search window, and you may also download US applications from Rapidpat Images service, or include them in your Rapidpat Custom database.

What methods of payment does Rapidpat accept?
We accept VISA, MASTERCARD, AMERICAN EXPRESS and DISCOVER cards, and corporate checks. For the fastest processing, use our secure servers to place your order online. If you are sending payment with a check, your order will be processed upon receipt.

What is FTP, and why is it Rapidpat's preferred method of delivery?
FTP is an acronym for "File Transfer Protocol." FTP is the preferred standard to deliver and receive large amounts of data via the Internet. When you order patents from Rapidpat, an order number is generated that takes you directly to your private, secure folder in our FTP download area.

What information is in Rapidpat express full-text search?
Rapidpat express unites the full-text of US granted patents since 1976 and patent applications published since March 15, 2001.

Rapidpat express unites the full text of US patents, January 1976 to the present day with US patent applications, which have been published by the US Patent and Trademark Office since March, 2001. Data includes all bibliographic data, such as the inventor's name, the patent's title, and the assignee's name; the abstract; the full description of the invention; and the claims. The display of each patent's full-text includes an order button to download the images (aka "drawings") of each page of the patent as a PDF file ($1.99 each).

Rapidpat express features four handy search modes: Boolean, Natural Language, Fuzzy Language and Phonic. It is updated weekly with new granted patents and patent applications, available to you each Wednesday evening. Rapidpat express is fully indexed and faster than any search system of its kind; full help instructions on Rapidpat express are contained within the search system.


RAPIDPAT COMPLETE

What is included in Rapidpat Complete?
A digital copy in PDF of every US patent granted since 1790 until the most recent issue at the time that you place your order is included. US Patent applications are also included.

If you wish to add Rapidpat search express to your Rapidpat Complete system, we will also include the full-text of each patent image collection , provided in htm format (for use with any browser), a fully indexed collection, and Rapidpat Search express engine to deploy.

The Rapidpat search express system option may be included in your Rapidpat Complete order for an additional fee of $1,499. Rapidpat search experess includes a fully indexed version of the full-text for each patent in your collection, as well as Rapidpat's search engine that allows unlimited users to search using four handy search modes: boolean, fuzzy language, phonetic, and natural language search modes. What media formats are available for Rapidpat Complete?
 Rapidpat Complete is available via FTP delivery or on DVD (appx. 225 DVDs). FTP delivery is the fastest, most convenient delivery option, and allows you to save media ($18 per DVD) and shipping ($50) costs.

Rapdipat on DVD includes our proprietary index so you can quickly locate patents of interest. delivery is shipped via FEDEX or US Postal service.

How can I keep my Rapidpat Complete collection up-to-date?
Rapidpat Updates subscriptions are available for both US granted patents and US application documents. To learn more, click here.

What is the turnaround once I order Rapidpat Compete?
Processing of your Rapidpat Collection takes 4-6 weeks. Expedited turnaround is available for an additional service fee.

Do I need hardware or software to run Rapidpat Complete?
As you may know, the patent collection is data-intensive and voluminous. You may also realize that the benefits of owning the patent information and the freedom to control and shape your patent information process is far greater than the storage needs of the collection itself. Whether you choose Rapidpat Complete-FTP or Rapidapt Complete-DVD, you will need storage space to hold your patent data collection. Is there support available to help me set-up Rapidpat Complete?
Yes, Support is included in every purchase of Rapidpat Complete. Firstly, our experts will work with you to determine which Rapidpat Complete system will best fit your needs. Once determined, our staff will help you to prepare for the arrival of Rapidpat Complete, working with your technology folks and other business folks should that be necessary. If you already own hardware that you'd like to use to store Rapidpat Complete, you may ship it to us and we will place the collection on the device(s) and shit it back to you ready to go. Our recommended solution is based on our experiences in setting up some of the world's largest manufacturers. The hardware solution that we recommend (NAS server) is expected to hold approximately 18-24 months of new patent data. Approximately 6,000 new patents and applications are published each week, and the Rapidpat Complete recommended hardware solution factors weekly updates into the mix.

How many DVDs is needed for Rapidpat Complete-DVD?
Rapidpat Complete on DVD fits on about 223 DVDs. Because the US patent database grows at a rate of about 5,000-6,000 new patents and applications weekly, please confirm at the time that you place your order.

Does Rapidpat Complete include US patent applications too?
 Yes, US patent applications is included in Rapidpat Complete.

What are the usage limitations of Rapidpat Complete?
Rapidpat Complete is designed to accomodate the document retrieval (and optionally research) needs of an entire organization. Accordingly, unlimited usage within an organization is permitted; reselling, licensing or otherwise reselling Rapidpat Complete in whole or in part is EXPRESSLY PROHIBITED and violates the terms and conditions as set forth herein. When you order Rapidpat Complete, you acknowledge that you have read and agree to the terms and conditions for use.

How do I contact technical support?

If I am unable to download my patent order, will I receive a credit?
If you encounter a problem receiving a download, or if the file appears to be corrupted or does not display correctly, attempt to re-download from your existing order using the link provided in your order confirmation email. Sometimes, problems occur during transmission. If the problem persists, please complete our online help submission form, or phone Support at 201-377-1747. We will work with you to resolve the issue, or to provide you with a prompt refund if that is your preference.

Rapidpat Custom Collections

What is a Rapidpat Custom Collection?
A Rapidpat Custom collection is one that you design and we produce. Custom Collections are available via download, CD ROM, and DVD. You may select any number of patents, from any criteria that you need (i.e, inventor, portfolio, industry alerts, IPC, Assignee, etc.). There are two ways to define and order a Custom Collection: 1) Upload a file of pre-selected patents to us using the upload form or 2) use the Custom Profile that we make availble to define the criteria for your collection and hit "submit."

Once we receive your custom order, we will prepare a quote based on your criteria, and send it to you via email within 48 business hours. From there you may view up to 10 patents that were identified, and view the otehr relevant details. Custom Collection patent documents are $3.00 each.

What are the advantages of ordering Rapidpat Custom?
There are several key advantages to ordering a Rapidpat Custom Collection: the most obvious being that you don't have to do the research and leg work to identify then extract the of patents that you need from a vast an ever-growing US patent collection! Rapidpat Custom provides a simple and economic way for the less-skilled or novice searcher to obtain the types of patents that impact his/her business, without hours of time-consuming research. For the skilled searcher, it saves time and money to prepare a quick file of patent and applications numbers needed, then upload it to us for fast and expert processing.

Can I get updates of patents that match my custom criteria?
Yes. When your custom collection is delivered, you will be asked if you would like to subscribe to a Custom Update subscription based on your update frequency needs. Should you already have a patent collection and wish to get updates to it, you may also order a custom Rapidpat Updates subscription.

What is included in a Rapidpat Express subscription?

Rapidpat express includes: a fully indexed US patent collection of the full-text of each patent and application of the United States, and our progressive and super-fast search engine upon which to deploy your collection.

What is included in the Rapidpat express subscription?
Rapidpat express includes the full-text for US patents and applications, current to the time that you place your order. It also includes a 12 month subscription to weekly full-text updates, sent to you via FTP transfer from our secure site. After the initial 12 month period has expired, you may renew your Rapidpat express full-text subscription for the fees as posted.

Are there usage limitations to Rapidpat express?
Rapidpat express is for your organization's use; unlimited use of unlimited simultaneous users is permitted. Reselling. licensing or otherwise charging a third-party outside of your organization is EXPRESSLY NOT PERMITTED and violates the terms and conditions of usage. Unlimited use within your organization is permitted. When you order Rapidpat express, you acknowledge that you have read and agree to the terms and conditions for use.
